Upon successful completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Apply a general analytical framework to the credit analysis of foreign banks and foreign bank subsidiaries.
- Develop long-term perspectives on foreign bank holding company and foreign bank subsidiary credit risk both within a particular country and as between various countries.
- Develop an appreciation for the information risks associated with foreign accounting procedures and regulatory environments.
- Utilize rating models as a means of focusing questions on key foreign bank and foreign bank subsidiary credit risks.
- Evaluate foreign bank management strategies and derivative risk management policies and procedures.

Credit analysts, account officers, and credit administrators assigned to foreign bank clients who are already experienced in bank credit analysis.

Delivery
|
After a brief review of the basic concepts applicable to evaluating the credit risk of lending to foreign banks, the remainder of the seminar is devoted to applying these concepts, in small working groups, to specific countries and to specific foreign banks within a foreign country. Group presentations and discussions are led by the seminar leader. Seminars are limited to 15 participants. The seminar includes a binder provided a week prior to the seminar and requires 4-6 hours of pre-course work. The seminar also includes the analysis of three cases.
